...there's *so* much racism, homophobia, misogyny and all sorts of fucked up stuff wound up in those bands, scenes, & subcultures...
...so yeah, we are a bit wiser these days, and yeah, a lot of seminal punk rock would (and should) get canceled if was starting today.
But that's just the evolution of pop culture and it's dissidents. Punk rock itself is a series of cancellations...
...I mean every punk movement/ genre is some form of repudiation of it's antecedents: hardcore, straightedge, twee indie pop, art-noise...

Anyway, sucks to be on the other side these days, Glenn, but hey, I'm still blasting your obsolescent punk-pop and metal masterpieces...
...and things are getting better, thanks in part to the transgressive lyrics and music of The Misfits and others.
But the message isn't what is was in the 80s. And it would be regressive if it was the core of music today.
Punk was terrible and awesome and necessary back in the 70s, 80s... as was the indie movement in the 80s & 90s...
...and you are right, Glenn, The Misfits et al couldn't exist today. But that's just things getting better.
It's ok to be a stepping stone.
