What’s the expected return on this "investment" for Twitter, Inc? @paraga? @nedsegal?
The only justification I can think of is that it’s an advantage to "own" the standard for decentralized social networks…
…and for @twitter to play a role like @Microsoft did with WS-* back in the day…
…and head off any legitimate chance of true interoperability.
As a truly decentralized social network is an existential threat to @twitter’s current model.
